Driving 101
I was on the streets last May 1. No. I didn’t join the Labor Day rallies (there was actually none in Cagayan de Oro). I was then driving. Or to put it more accurately: I was learning how to drive. I sat behind a Crosswind and an Altis and I went all the way to Puerto (the road leading to Bukidnon) which has intimidating uphill curves.
Boy, it sure was not easy. I had trouble with changing gears especially if I’m going uphill. I had difficulty turning to the left. And I have now an unfounded phobia with traffic lights (the car's engine once died in the middle of an intersection.) But nonetheless, thanks to my inspiring and extremely patient driving instructor, I managed to be back in one piece – unscratched and unharmed. I am also thankful that at the end of the day, the cars were also left unscathed.
I realized that driving is actually a responsibility. You are actually responsible for the safety of the persons both inside and outside the car. I am especially annoyed by pedestrians who cross a street like it’s just an extension of another children’s park. Hey, in as much as we need educated drivers, we also need educated pedestrians.
You have to congratulate me because at last, I have done something worthwhile for the summer. Learning how to drive was actually on my things-to-do-before-I-die-that-is-if-I-will-die-this-year-only list. Now, I have four more to go.
Two words could actually sum up my whole driving experience: adrenaline rush. Oh, make that three: pure adrenaline rush.

ahhh.. nasuya ko. i wanna learn how to drive, too.
:sighs: Wish I could learn how to drive too.
Bren, please, in the name of all that is holy, never hit or run over animals whenever you're driving. Not only is it messy, it sucks. If I ever hear about you being guilty of such, I hope those traffic police will get your driver's liscense for good.... kiddin'. Just be responsible.
My mom learned driving about 14 years ago but she never had the chance to use the skill. So I was thinking, "I have to get a car before I learn to drive or at least have something to drive."
duke, salamat sa pag drop by. you have a cool blog by the way. i especially liked the entry about little david.
caterpillar, if you know how to drive already, who knows where your car will lead you - all the other b's in the philippines perhaps. ;)
ripplemaker, you should. para katabi mo na rin yung love of your life mo in one of your journeys. (music playing on my mind: stephen speak's passenger seat).
and yes. i only drove at 30 kph average and the last time i drove was more than two weeks ago (May 1 to be exact). so far, in the name of all that is holy, i have never run over anything that walks on at least two legs.
Apply nalang sa anig P&G or Unilever... asta man siguro Nestle gina-providan man yata ug company cars ang mga sales employees
