Jose Rizal once owned and tended a farm at the municipality of Katipunan in Zamboanga del Norte. Rizal bought it from Calixto Carreon who was a blind patient that sought treatment from him during his exile in Dapitan. It was supposed to be a token of gratitude but Rizal refused the offer and paid him Php200.00 instead.
Trinidad, one of Rizal's sister, looked after this fertile piece of land after Rizal's death in 1896. In 1949, it was sold to Crisostomo Eguia Sr. with the condition that property be still named after Jose Rizal.

How to get there
The Katipunan stamp site for the Lakbay Jose Rizal @150 is at the Katipunan Tourism Office. From the Dipolog public bus terminal, take a multicab for Katipunan. The trip should not last more than 20 mins. Alight at the town center where you could easily spot the stamp site. Take a habal-habal (public motorcycle) to the actual Rizal farm. You may have to request the habal-habal driver to wait for you as there are no public transport that regularly plies to this private property.
